Welcome
Welcome to this website created by Uri Baron, Nathan Lederman, Max Mendel, and Ryan Bronston. Here you will be able to discover the history and sociological contributions of four of the most prominent figures in world history. These people being Stephen Biko, Nelson Mandela, Solomon Northup and Frank Serpico. All of these figures have differences, as would be expected, but all of them also have many similarities in regard to their many positive qualities that have helped to move them all into positions of fame and public recognition as morally courageous figures. We as a team have created this website for the sole purpose of education: we feel that it is important to inform people on the courageous and death-defying acts that people have committed in the past, what we can take away from these acts, and how the individuals responsible are still an integral part of life today. We hope that you are able to, by the end of reading this, are able to have a better understanding of the lives and contributions of those who paved the way for the human race as we know it.
Moral courage has been an extremely important aspect of human history. Without moral courage many people would be oppressed and viewed as lower class. When people show moral courage, they are evolving the human race. People that are morally courageous have shaped the way that the world functions today. Morally courageous people are people that make changes and do what they think is right. Many people that have showed moral courage in history have become guidelines for what it really means to be a good person in the world. Today we should look up to people that have showed moral courage because without moral courage there is no one to fight for freedom, equality, and what is the right thing to do. Good examples of people that followed their beliefs and showed moral courage are people that fought against inequality and corruption. These morally courageous people take risks to protect what they believe is right.
Moral Courage can be interpreted in many different ways. Our group believes that Moral courage is presented when you stand up for what you believe in even when other people feel that it is wrong. There are many people who disagree with courageous acts because of moral faults of their own, not because the acts themselves are bad. Steven Biko, Solomon Northup, Nelson Mandela, and Frank Serpico all fought for what they believed in, despite what other people said. They were all surrounded by people who were different to them. All of these people lived in a community where life was hard for them. They wanted to improve life for themselves and the people around them, even though the people around them believed it was wrong. People throughout history have done the right thing even when other people thought it was wrong.
